eos Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream in Lavender Jasmine: I’ve been using this for years, so obviously I love it. This is the best shaving cream I’ve ever used, for one, it isn’t packaged in an aerosol can so it won’t explode in your suitcase when you travel, or leave a rust ring on your tub. The texture is thick and creamy so it creates a nice barrier between the razor and my skin to minimize the chance accidentally nicking myself. I only need a little of it, one pump is more than enough for a half leg, just wet the area and the product spreads nicely, and if I find that the cream has dried up while I’m still shaving, I just wet the area again and Continue reading
Andalou Naturals Clementine + C Illuminating Toner (x2, old packaging): I’ve already reviewed this, and am currently on my 4th bottle. I really like this toner, it’s packed with a ton of great ingredients like: aloe juice, panthenol, vitamins E & C, as well as glycolic acid (even though the amount isn’t high enough to exfoliate, it provides hydration). This toner probably hasn’t made a dramatic difference in my skin, but it has become an essential part of my skincare routine because I spray it on right after cleansing (I use a washcloth) to get my skin really moist, then quickly follow up with the eye cream, serum, moisturizer. I find that I like applying my eye creams, and serums onto damp skin because Continue reading
e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil in Deep Brown: unfortunately, I couldn’t use this up because I got it in the wrong shade. Deep Brown is too dark, Neutral Brown would have probably been the better match (although it seems to have a red undertone, and doesn’t look ashy enough for me, from the swatches I’ve seen) but I never got to try a different shade because I don’t like the formula of this pencil. It was so waxy, that it made my brow hairs stick together and look greasy. Due to the excessive waxiness, I can’t imagine it being long wearing. I also don’t think that this brow pencil was well thought out, the pencil comes to a point, but it isn’t Continue reading
Origins Ginger Burst Savory Body Wash: I loved this body wash, I find the scent so refreshing, and invigorating. It really smells like a real burst of ginger, because of the ginger root oil, you can also smell a hint of citrus from the lime oil, grapefruit, and lemon peel oils. It also contains cardamom seed, and clove oils which really adds warmth, and complexity to the scent, and I love that it isn’t artificially fragranced. This body wash does contain sulfates, so it can be drying, not excessively so in my experience. It lathers nicely, I tend to like a good, rich lather from my body washes (not so much with face cleansers), it washes off easily, and doesn’t leave a residue.
I really enjoyed showering with this, especially on Continue reading
Nair Hair Remover Moisturizing Face Cream: I used this to remove the peach fuzz on my upper lip. That’s a really important step for me because I have dark hair, and it makes my upper lip look darker than the rest of my face, and when I wear lipstick, the contrast makes the area look even darker, plus getting rid of the hair allows my makeup to go on smoother.
So, the way it works: you’re supposed to apply a thick layer of the product to desired area on the face (upper lip, cheek, chin), obviously, avoid Continue reading
NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown (x2): I’ve already reviewed these in my previous makeup empties, and in my post about makeup essentials. Since those posts, I’ve tried out two other brow pencils that I really like, both are fine tipped like the Anastasia Brow Wiz. While this NYX one is wider, and great for generally filling in, I prefer the fine tipped ones for outlining/creating the shape of the brows, and defining the hairs in the very front. I still love these, use them every time I wear makeup, and have two back ups at the ready.
Jordana Baked Eyeshadow in Vanilla Bean: unfortunately, I didn’t get to use this up, I accidentally Continue reading
Winter is here, or if you live in the south, then it’s kind of, sort of on the way. If you’re a beauty junkie, this is the time to wear all your dark matte lipsticks (even some of your pesky liquid lipsticks). We can all agree that dry, chapped lips are an eyesore, whether you’re wearing a bold lip or going au naturel. Here are some steps + tips to make chapped lips a thing of the past. You’ll want to do the majority of these steps as part of your nighttime skincare routine, this is so that you can see some results as early as the next morning, plus you’re more likely to have time to do all the steps at night, than you are to do them when you’re in a rush to get to work/school.
Exfoliate: To exfoliate, I start off with my e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator to manually scrub off any loose bits of skin on my lips, I scrub in circular motions until I feel like all those loose bits have been dislodged. I then go on to cleansing my face, I always take off my cleanser with a washcloth, so when I’m done with my face, I use the washcloth to give my lips another scrub just to get off any loose bits that may be left.
I follow up with chemical exfoliation, this does all the Continue reading
I consider my makeup essentials to be products that I can’t do a full face of makeup without. I might switch out certain other products depending on the look I’m going for that day, but these are what I always grab for, regardless of my daily makeup preferences. Some of these products, I’ve been using for years, and some I’ve only discovered relatively recently but don’t understand how I could have ever been without them. I might have tried some similar products here and there but ultimately, I come running back to my essentials either because they’re formulated better, easier to use, or just Continue reading
I’m obsessed with skincare, and I’m always trying out cleansers because you can tell pretty quickly whether a cleanser works the way you want it to. Plus, while I have a few cleansers that I love, I’m convinced that there are still really good ones out there that are worth trying. The two new additions to my cleanser collection are Continue reading
